Stamp collecting as in other hobbies will go in cycles, back in the 60's to middle 70's it was stamps, then in the 80's to the early 90's it was the sport cards, and now it is coins on top of the collectable. The USPS started issuing all the series of stamps in the late 80's trying to peak the interest back in stamp collecting but most of the interest had move to sports cards by that time. Stamps are still a good investment as with all collectable but coins has a larger following because of the variety and availability.
