Can absolutely attest to a common reaction to ancient coins by non-collectors. Me: Look at my new coin? A Roman Empire coin, 2,000 years old Non-collector: 2,000 years old? Where did you get it? Must be fake Me: *Sigh* So, again, there are 10s of thousands of common ancient coins available, and there are literally millions and millions of ancient coins that have survived the ages. They can't ALL be in museums, and they can't ALL be expensive

Variation 3: "If you believe it's real, why don't you sell or donate it to a museum?" Value related questions and comments Variation 1: "If it's 2000 years old, it must be worth a lot of money." Variation 2: "Wow, that's interesting. How much is it worth?" Variation 3: "Wow, that's interesting. Have you tried to sell it?"
