Hi. I have been going through my coins and making books for my grandchildren. I'm very new to coins so I have alot to learn. I see many posts that say I should look for wide AMs Errors in the 1989, 98, and 2000. pennies. Also close AMs in the 1992 penny. I have not found any close 1992 errors, but I have found some wide AMs. At least I think they are ? I have some photos of each year, am I correct in thinking these are the wide AMs errors for these years? If I am correct and these are the error coins. Is there much value in them ? Thanks Genia
Unfortunately in circulated condition they go for a few dollars. 98' goes for a little more than the 2000
The opposite is true for proofs. This page may help you. http://www.lincolncentresource.com/wideams.html
One CT member pulled the highest graded 1992 CAM from circulation IIRC. I think it sold for five figures. Just because a coin is IN circulation doesn't necessarily make it 'circulated' conditionally.
OH. Got it. Thanks Now I need to look through all the 1999 pennies. I just got finished rolling them. Oh Well.
I have recently sold 98 and 00 WAM for $3 free shipping....Last year 5k in cents yeilded about a dozen of each, and no 99s. So, unless its a BU, i dont even look anymore.
98,99,2000 if they are wide AM, keep. 92, if it's a CLOSE AM, keep it and celebrate because they are worth the most of all of the close/wide AM cents. This leads me to a question. Does anyone know why PCGS lists prices for the 92 close AM but not for any of the wide AM cents?
Hi. Thanks for the information and help I'm going to keep all the error coins I find and give them to my grandchildren, they are only 1 and new born. I'm just looking through coins I have already saved for years. I would think that in 20 years the error pennies would still be worth something more then 1 penny ? Well, I'll save them unless I come across something very valuable.
