Why not 90% silver anymore?

    And 91.67% is, in fact, not less than 90%. ;)

    Yup. That's the reasoning/permission behind the .900 to .999 switch.

    When the mint was making their own blanks, they used purchased pure silver and copper bars to makeup the stripes for punching out the blanks.

    Before that, they bought in silver, refined it, and then alloyed it. It was important that the depositor received the full value of their deposit.

    The rules have frequently been different for silver vs. gold.

    And you expect we can call all of that up from the very simple, "Would you prefer 85% 'gasoline' fuel, with the remaining 25% corn syrup?" Are you normal? You're expecting clairvoyance, just to understand you? No wonder hardly nobody understands you. And we're uneducated for that? OK, champ. Good communicating with you, again. That is to say, if one could call that "communicating." Any way we can press 1 for English the next time you comment? That'd really help, just trust me, I'd never lie to you.
