Why no love for farthings?

Sometimes I buy job lots... mostly bits and pieces of ruined rubbish, or bad examples of what I have got, and be delighted when amongst the rubbish is the wee gem that is a farthing (or thirds etc).
I don't even have that many (about 30), but to me they, given the history etc, are great coins to put a smile to any collectors face.

  3. I like them a lot. I just don't have any access to them. I've only ever seen one in person, a 1942 that is in my collection.

Here are two farthing specimens from my collection:

    • The first is a 1723 Wood's Hibernia Farthing
    • The second is a 1775 George III Farthing (scanned only, low-res, for database purposes)

The love is here.... I especially like the George the fourth ones that 'farthing' posted. The ones in the first post are quite gorgeous as well.

Beat Rim, But still a nice find!

I rescued this "Old Girl" out of a world coin bin for a few days ago! To bad the rim is banged up to all heck, but I still think she is pretty!

Nice find dctjr80. Very nice find. I always liked the thistle, rose and shamrock below on those earlier types.

Collect89, I always liked that reverse, with the bird. Beautiful coin.

I rescued these three from the .25cent bin at my local coin shop.
