It means you cannot post links to active auctions, it means you cannot post auction numbers, it means you cannot post your ebay name/handle in conjunction with mentioning an auction you have up, it means you cannot say something like - "hey I have an auction going over on ebay ........" - and then use any other statement or comment that may help direct people to that auction. It means you're not allowed to do it period. And NOS, there is zero tolerance on this policy for a reason. That reason is exactly to avoid what you are proposing. Because if there was any tolerance people would using every way they could think of to get around the rule. And the first time a post was edited they would be screaming - "hey ! I did that because ......" trying to rationalize or justify their actions. So no, there are no exceptions. Not to my knowledge it hasn't. What has been done, and what is allowed, is that someone, anyone, else can post links to any auction they want - as long as it is not their own auction; or, as I said earlier, you can even post links to your own inactive/completed auctions - so that those auctions or the items in those auctions can be discussed. And NOS, as for the color red being used to indicate that a post has been edited, I chose to use that color specifically because it jumps out at you. It is supposed to grab you and get your immediate attention. It is supposed to point out, not only to the offender, but to everybody else as well, that - HEY ! Somebody broke the rules ! In that way it is not only used as a notifier it is also used as reminder - to everyone that we have rules and that some things are not allowed. That said, it is a pretty rare occasion that anyone ever gets punished or given an infraction when a post of theirs is edited. In other words, the post is edited and that is the end of it. THAT is where your tolerance comes in NOS. That is where and how the leeway is given. We fully realize that people are human, and sometimes they just make honest mistakes, sometimes they are not even aware that they broke any rule. And even in those cases where it is obvious that the offender broke the rule on purpose, knowing full well that it was against the rules to do what they did, they still don't get an infraction for doing so in the majority of cases. Their post gets edited and that's the end of it. The only time there are any consequences for rule violations is when the offender repeatedly and knowingly breaks the rules, or when an offender has been told to stop and they do not stop. Then there are consequences. In other words NOS, nobody is expelled from school just because they broke the zero tolerance rule. They don't even get detention. Instead, they get told that they did break the rule, and that's all that happens. Now I don't know about you, but that seems like a pretty dang fair, reasonable, and tolerant, way of doing things.[/QUOTE]
