Why is it so strict to metal detect?

If you are thinking of taking a metal detector to a foreign country, research their rules thoroughly. That includes any countries that you may only be just traveling through on ground or water to a final destination. In many countries, detecting is severely restricted or totally banned. Your equipment might be permanently confiscated at the airport or border.
