So here I am browsing ebay listings and I come across this one. A 1932-D Washington Quarter graded AG03 by PCGS. In the listing title and description the seller states the value of the coin is $175 in VG grade. What is the purpose of doing that???
Why did someone slab an AG-03 Washington? Not entirely sure. Why did someone compare this to the price of a VG? The clear answer is so that he can make it seem like his inflated price is more reasonable.
Yeah, he's just looking out for his buyers' best interest. If he were trying to pull the wool over their eyes, he would've posted the value in MS66.
I can't know the owners mind, but this is why I love NGS and PCGS. It takes alot of the negotiation time out of coin buying and selling. There it is. The grade and condition. And you can spend your time on more important stuff. Unless you're like me and like to haggle.
@Endeavor Sorry to get a bit off topic from your thread.. I wanted to share with you a 1942 Quarter one of the guys in my Metal Detecting Club found this past weekend! Only Obverse picture..
For some reason there is a premium for coins in Low Ball Registry coins. Of course the lower the coin is graded the larger the premium. It’s possible whoever submitted this coin thought it might grade PO01.
Now there is a trend I will never understand. Buy what you like, I guess... but it doesn't make sense to me.
Here is a nice one! https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/202364809004
Dang, that's almost as ridiculous as the prices they are asking for PL examples! https://www.ebay.com/itm/1776-1976-...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649
