Your the one that seems to be over-reacting. I simply asked if your comments were intended for his daughters.

First ~ As I am obviously a guy and I don't wear panties, this is you showing what kind of class you have.

You made a comment (I thought was a little harsh) I said as much and you seem all bent about it. As you put so well, this is the internet ~ You put something out there, and you had better expect others to react.

People by nature sometimes need to blow off some steam. That's all the OP was doing and as it relates to his concerns, I understand. You have started at least one thread where you did the same. I am pretty sure what you did not want to hear was "get over it".

I post primarily to get ideas on how to better manage my collection and fine tune it. When i first started being active on various coin forums my collection was all over the place and i had a lot of bad buys but now i am far better focused and my collection is better managed. If i had continued on orginal track i would have lost lot of money as spot prices started going side ways, phew.

I post because I find threads that interest me, some are right on, some are wrong, some are indifferent, some are BS and others aren't. I used to belong to a guitar forum before I started collecting coins again. :D

    Eh

You post here for the same reason everyone does in forums all over the internet, on usenet, on slashdot, on facebook, on tweeter, on list servers, on irc, on instant messaging, etc etc etc since the beginning of the internet. The internet was born Monday and Tuesday someone invented usenet newsgroups.

You post to broaden your human contacts and for the unquenchable need we all have for human company and for sharing.

A good point has been made to me at least. I, and most people in general will be a bit more cautious when responding to a young collector. We won't put down their coins, rather give the high points and congratulate them on the acquisition. We will also let them know if their is a problem with the coin, but in a much lighter manner than if it were an older person, new collector or fifty year veteran of the hobby. Perhaps we forget that the older person is not going to be the only one to see our comments and we should choose our words a little more carefully. It wouldn't hurt anybody to be a little more descriptive with their comments to show why a coin is a problem coin rather than just saying something like cleaned, ugly or the like. Really it would better serve all of those wondering why cleaning a coin is so bad, or why special care should be taken to preserve coins.

Why do I post? I like to learn more about coins and participate/contribute to analysis of problems such as variety attributions, grading, cleaning, counterfeits, etc. Plus I like to joke around with congenial friends.

Now I would like to analyze your post...

I'm trying to understand what you're saying. It sounds like someone is giving you negative feedback for some reason, but (and this is where it gets confusing) you seem concerned with "...negative comments or emails that may or may not have come from this [CT] site...". You're getting negative comments and/or emails? Are any of these comments in CT posts?

I went to your profile and viewed quite a few threads to which you've posted. I didn't look at all of them but, of the ones I did, I see nothing but politeness and support. I didn't think people could send you emails unless you share your email address. Are you saying that you're getting negative emails from CT members...but don't know who they are? What exactly are you saying?

A very wise person once told me, "Understanding a problem is 90% of solving a problem." :thumb:

    Darryl,

I am honestly not sure what the issues are here, I really am speechless, so I am just walking away. If the OP was at all offended, that was not my intent.

Why obviously? From your avatar? And what if a guy wears panties? I could call my shorts panties.

Why do I post here. I started reading this forum a year ago and found it to be interesting and informative about a subject I like and don't know that many other people that do like it - coin collecting. There is a wealth of information and nice people on this forum and I really enjoy all of them. Sometimes the disagreements get sarcastic, things are said in haste and in the heat of the moment that people are sorry for, and I see people apologize frequently. Additionally I enjoy the collective sense of humor here and hope it does not change.

I would have thought Peter's 1950's TV language rules would take care of most stuff, but if you or your daughters (I have two and neither likes coins) were offended, I would apologize, but I don't know what was said. Please don't stop coming here, and thank you for your service.

Darryl, sorry for that, but I just couldn't resist.

I ask myself almost every day why I post to any coin forum, i still haven't come up with a good reason.

I have been thinking of just selling most of what i have and getting out of it. I just haven't taken that step yet.

On a side note to the OP, if your daughters are interested in world coins I would be glad to send them some if you want.

And as others have said "thank you, thank you, thank you for your service". My son joins the AF in November

    Ruben,

I don't mind if people disagree with me. I am wrong sometimes too. I just prefer when people are nice to each other and treat each other with respect. I guess that is one of my hot buttons.

Mike, I appreciate your last post!

This coin forum is an excellent way to feel out the market on any specific coin, if you have something nice the members of this forum will let you know. CT is an invaluable place to me because i can get opinions from all walks of life. The members here are not only vastly knowledgeable but also represent collecting coins as a whole, sure your gonna get a few bad apples but just ignore them. The reason i actively participate in this forum is to learn and i have learned so much.
