Thanks @eparch! Very nice coins. Fortunately we did not compete against each other on them as I already had similar types in collection: I focused on other coins from the Gysen sale. I am very happy to have had the privilege and luck to acquire several dozen coins from that exceptional sale. In fact it was the most important sale of my whole numismatic career. It was also a personal one for me as Philppe Gysen was my numismatic friend and mentor. It is very sad that he passed away in May 2019.
I don't think that is even possible these days, and we know that Alexander Missong has not managed it. It's been over 20 years for me, and I still discover new variants of Probus. You know this already, but I'm a big fan of your Probus Lugdunum efforts!
You have an amazing collection! For me personally, I have many Probus coins in great condition... but they are fairy common. Here is a coin that I just rephotographed tonight that I believe is from Estiot's 4th unspecified oriental mint.
Thanks! Yes, that's a coin from the 4th oriental mint identified by Estiot. Can you share some of your other Probus coins?
Thank you to all who shared their favorite Probus coins. To wrap up this thread I will post below pictures of some of my favorite coins from my specialized Probus collection.
I hope the above selection is the answer why it is worth collecting Probus coins. The variety of busts, obverse legends (titles) and reverse types in Probus' coinage never ceases to amaze
