It was my first coin that returned more than a few dollars for the investment. It changed my attitude toward collecting from lackadaisical to serious.
This is my second Tard Valentines themed one. I'll have to find something new after the 14th, I guess.
I use to like the show, Married with Children. They had an episode where they thought they found gold in this deserted mining town. The whole cast gets really hung up in gold fever. In the end, it was just fold's gold. It was quite funny. Anyway, I don't collect gold myself, but liked the avatar that reminded me of the episode.
Speaking of which, I saw a Robin yesterday and as you all know, Robins portend spring. I don't know if this guy missed the south bound bus last fall or is a recent arrival from the land of warmth and sunshine but I'm thinkin' early spring....... [All you Northeast folks check your snowblowers and find you shovels. Big storm headin' up the coast]
Punxsutawney Phil? Yes he did predict an early spring.......which probably means six more weeks of winter.
Antoninus Pius is my favorite Roman Emperor. He is definitely atypical as emperors go, but I like that about him. He made some major improvements to this world, in particular creating the concept of "innocent until proven guilty" and many humanitarian efforts. This coin is particularly special as it was a part of the Biaggi collection, a Calico plate coin, and is of a very rare die pairing which I think is visually fantastic.
