This is true because toning by its very nature, thin film interference, reduces the amount of luster that can be seen. </p><p><br /></p><p>The point is that dipping is not always a bad thing. To the contrary, sometimes dipping can be a very good thing. </p><p><br /></p><p>And don't get me wrong, I like original coins every bit as much as you do. I love an attractively toned coin ! But it is just flat out wrong to portray dipping as being wrong, bad, or detrimental, for that is simply not the case a all.
