This should be CoinTalk's official motto.

No problem with debate on toned coins on the toned coins thread. But name calling and getting way off into conversations bashing TPGs and retailers only kills the thread and adds nothing to the discussion.

The New Thread is TONED COINS ONLY

I don't even bother with the link function provided by Cointalk, I just use the HTML tag

    How 'bout them toners, huh?

Will the taste pendulum swing back, and what'll do it? Even more, now that color affects grades, what happens if and when tastes change?

Is it time to overtly date slabs?

I imagine moderating this forum is a bit like herding cats ...

One of the best cat herding video's ever ... (GDJMSP, you are even wearing a hat like these guys, admit it, you are a cat herder from way back)

Long ago, the first time toning was considered something "special," coin grading was a complete mess. Today, with TPGS it is more regulated and consistant. IMO, we'll never go back to the days of "Blast White."

The only thing that may change is how certain colors, like "blue" copper, are treated.

These are three great answers for the original question. They are of classic design enhanced with gorgeous color. When you move the coin in your vision the colors will shimmer and flash, accentuating the contours of the sculpture.

I know I just posted this in another thread, but here the toning is a subtle overlay of tan, gold, and purple with a rainbow of colors along the reverse rim. I would not trade that for full copper red.

Whereas I, on the other hand, am a nerf herder.
