You know that old saw about grading? A good light, a good memory and 20 years' experience? Well, they can do that two and a half times and then they'll have what I have.
In the numismatic classroom that is Cointalk, you are basically the class clown. You should keep to cracking corny jokes and leave the serious numismatic discussion to those of us who actually know what we are talking about.
Do you think that resorting to name calling helps your cause? Funny that someone as "experienced" as yourself can be so easily rattled.
Mr. Pot, meet Mr. Kettle. Lehigh, I've NEVER liked you. I think you are an arrogant jerk, and you INSIST in reproving it with astonishing regularity.
Yes, yes, we are all aware that the posts are numbered. But back to the point. In that other thread, you were adamant that it is unethical to sell or promote the sale of problem coins. In this thread, you are adamantly defending a seller who uses deceptive photography to sell problem coins. Ever hear of ethics?
That is the response that most people have after I crush them in a numismatic debate. Now go cry about it!
Show me one of those problem coins that ISN'T obvious to anyone with MINIMAL observation skills. I'm not saying they aren't out there. With the volume GSC does, they pretty much have to be out there. I'm saying I blow by them so fast I'm not even aware I'm doing it. Show me a tough one.
Grow up, idiot! All we have established thus far is I can buy from GSC without a problem and you apparently can't. Who's zoomin' who?
Please define "deceptive photography". I know what that term means to me, but I do not know what it means to you.
I have no desire to scour GSC's inventory. Furthermore, there is already a coin in question, the Stone Mountain commemorative that has questionable toning that could be type 1 AT, type 2 AT, or both. What is the grade of that coin? Btw, you do know what type 1 and type 2 AT are don't you?
I don't care what 1 or 2 is, it's AT, and I would never bid on it. Next coin. I don't CARE what "grade" it is, just like I don't care what grade any other coin I wouldn't want is. I also would never bid on the Buff on the previous page. Next.
No, we haven't established that. You made a self promoting claim that you are able to cherry pick their inventory and have the coins grade higher than your estimate 80% of the time. When I accused you of telling a fish story, you called me a moron. Which leads us back to the issue at hand. You need to prove your claim by accepting my challenge. And this time, don't ask me to search for you.
All I can offer you is my own purchases from them, and I have saved the receipts that came with the coins. By the way, NONE have any remarkable toning, just average for the age stuff, and about half are proofs.
Are you telling me that you don't know the difference between type 1 and type 2 artificial toning? Come on Kurt, given all your "experience" and the extensive numismatic resume you have listed on your profile, surely you have knowledge of such a basic numismatic definition.
No, because it's of no concern to me. Toning writ large is of no concern to me. It's irrelevant to me.
The problem with referring to coins you have already purchased is that we have no evidence of what your initial grade was, we have to take your word for it. No thanks.
