Why are the new £1 Pound (UK) coins selling really high?

The bi-metal issues from last couple years. I'll go on ebay looking for these and they always receive bids 2-3x it's actual currency value. I don't really get it. Sometimes an auction will receive bids that high, so it's not just the BIN's selling.

I could understand if it's a set of proof coins, fine. The ones I'm talking about are raw coin listings and sometimes in lots.

Mugs that believe the printed hype.

I see modern commen US Quarters selling for 4x this side.

    It makes you wonder.

If you want £100 in £1 coins just send me £200 + shipping and I will oblige.

I've been buying other currencies like Japanese Yen, Swiss Francs and Canadian Dollar for at most maybe a few percent more than exchange. A few lots sell a little less even.
