Why are people paying more for 100 lots of ike dollars on eBay?

We had a guy show up at a monthly Coin meeting looking to sell some coins.
He had a folder with some random 90% silver and a few pages of peace and Ike dollars.
He thought the Ike's were silver dollars ( well they are silver in color and a dollar) but not all are silver dollars.
I bought the lot ( Ike's at face value)
Actually kept a few that were clean 76's type 1&2.
Then I wondered why someone would keep the others? I'll be the first to say I don't know enough about them, but I brought the lot to the next meeting for another guy to go through and see if I missed anything.
He said I didn't miss anything, asked if I wanted to get rid of them and handed me $1.25 for eack in paper dollars.
