Someone must have brought a box with them from Puerto Rico. Good news...it would be nice to see some of these coins being released in an actual State.
Man o' man I've got to contact my sister in Fla. or my old shipmate in Texas. "The mint being anti-collector " would seem to me that they're biting the hand that feeds them. To all above who have the 2009 nickels and dimes 'great goin' and also to those with 2010 cents. You have more cents than I have. (id I really say that....corrrrrrny) LOL
Maybe my imagination but I think I hear this same subject every year. Then all of a sudden the missing coins are popping up all over the place and then the discussion starts about the next years coins.
The profit they make from their sale of coins to collectors is only a very small fraction of the profits they turn over to the General Fund each year. The Parks quarters may be hard to find this year as well. Unlike the State Quarters, banks are NOT going to be allowed to order boxes of Parks quarters. They will get whatever happens to be on hand.
They were business strikes. I have a satin finish coins from my mint sets. You can tell the difference.
What used to upset me as a stamp collector was the dismissive attitude of the tellers at my PO. Maybe the Mint doesn't make much off coin collectors but someone should tell the tellers at my PO that there's a business advantages of selling a service to someone who is not actually going to use that service! It's a sticker away from being pure profit! I can't imagine someone doing that that in any other business; "You want to pay me for a service and I don't actually have to provide the service? GET OUT OF MY STORE!"
