I have one bank that I buy boxes of halves from. $500 per box. At first they thought it was unusual that I would call and order a box of halves and if I get someone new, they are a bit confused, but the head teller knows me now and she just orders them for me. I get them right after payday. I go through them in one night. They are willing to order the boxes for me. I don't know if they are charged for them, but they don't ever charge me and they havn't said anything to me.

Then I take them back to another bank. I opened my acct there specifically because they had a coin counting machine that they don't charge for. Also they've got a branch at the grocery store and they're open 7 days/week. They get irritated, because their machine is not set up for a large quatity of halves. Under the machine the pennies, nickles, dimes, and quarters drop down into a large plastic bag. The halves, however, don't have a bag. They drop into a tray that only holds $100. Then they have to stop the machine and empty the tray into a bag. So it takes them probably 10 minutes to go through $1500 worth of halves. I try to go when they're not busy.
