    Could someone please explain, to this ignoramus, what a TPG slab is ?

    Third Party Grader. As in NGC ANACS, PCGS, ICG. And slab refers to the holder they place the coin in when they grade it.

    Thanks to all for the good advice. I will listen to them and look for better preserved coins and not send them in.

    Well.... just because TPG means one thing in one context, doesn't mean it can't mean something else in another. I believe that MIGHT BE a 1956 vintage TPG that C-B-D's avatar creature is driving. Naturally aspirated Offenhauser, if I'm not mistaken. :troll:;)o_O

    The coins are not worth grading. Both have been cleaned, and the SL Half has severe hairlines.
