I can't believe that barber quarter graded. It's interesting to see how different people thought different coins graded. Grading is subjective
Without looking at anything but the first post, I would guess the 1921 peace dollar was bagged for altered surfaces. In second place would be the bust half, as I suspect that coin has had something done to it, but TPGs are far more lenient with bust halves than they are peace dollars. IMO of course...Mike
Yikes, only the IHC got slabbed. That's a bit curious, as I would think the 20 center and barber coin would have slabbed (and I'll bet they would if re-submitted a time or two more) -- unless of course there's something not visible in the photos.
I agree with most of this. Not so sure about the 20 cent piece, and the images don't magnify enough to tell, but there is something going on with the obverse surface near Liberty at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock. This may be a die clash, but if it is, it's a strange one. However, there also appears to be a scratch near star 5, and chances are that this coin got bagged for this at least.
Ah, the wonders of artificial toning for hiding what's going on. Clearly a die clash on the 20 cent, and what I thought was a scratch looks like a planchet flaw on the coin after the dipping.
