Im probably a 1.5 at the moment as Im now starting to specialize in ships rather than any old world/canada coin.

 

I'd have to say I'm a Collector/Investor. I love to collect coins, and I do have a sizable collection, but I also buy lots of coins to resell. I'd say for every 4 coins that I buy to resell I buy 1 coin to keep.

 

I guess I'm a type 4. I love obselete denominations. But I also buy and sell keys. Last April I went to the PNNA show in Washington with the intent on selling only to help put a downpayment on a car for my wife. After selling 11 coins, I had @$4000. in my pocket and it was burning a hole. I saw a beautiful 1864 sm. motto 2 cent. and I had to buy it. It set me back $565, but I came home with enough to get a more comfortable payment on a new car for my wife. Everyone benefited that day. But now 9 months later, I'm looking to replace some of those coins I sold.

 

I would like to thank everyone who contributed to this thread. I learned much from the different responses about what makes different collectors tick.

Sadly, the thread has become something of a spammer's target, and as member participation has slowed, I am going to ask that the moderators give it one more day so that if anyone has anything final to add to it, they have an opportunity, and then lock the thread down.

I seem to be a bit of all those at one time or another. Yea, my wifes favorite rib is "you know its not coinworld around here", but to me, it really is
