The color on this coin is superior but the spotting will turn many people off of this coin and rightfully so. What I like about this coin is the fact that there is no remnant planchet roughness on the cheek, jaw, or collar. The luster is good but is associated with a late die state which is an acquired taste IMO.</p><p><br /></p><p>Coin C: I have this coin MS64, MS65 on a good day with 5FS. Though the steps & strike on this coin are the best, it has the worst luster and IMO, the worst surfaces of the 3 coins. Planchet roughness plagues this coin and considering how many 1940 Jeffersons have full steps, the ordinary impression of this coin just turns me off. I don't hate it, but it just doesn't give me a reason to like it over the other 2 which are both very close to full steps.</p><p><br /></p><p>I voted for Coin A because it has the overall look of a premium gem coin and there is no detractors. Coin B has spotting, and Coin C is lackluster on the reverse. Maybe backing off the coin a little will do something to show the luster better. The equivalent of a slab shot.</p><p><br /></p><p>Coin A:</p><p><br /></p><p><img src="http://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o59/ACPitBoss/Jefferson%20Nickels%20Raw/JN1940GEMBU1Obv1_zps4a5a5242.jpg" class="bbCodeImage wysiwygImage" alt="" unselectable="on" /></p><p><img src="http://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o59/ACPitBoss/Jefferson%20Nickels%20Raw/JN1940GEMBU1Rev1_zpsbdd8deda.jpg" class="bbCodeImage wysiwygImage" alt="" unselectable="on" /></p><p><br /></p><p>Coin B:</p><p><br /></p><p><img src="http://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o59/ACPitBoss/Jefferson%20Nickels%20Raw/JN1940GEMBU2Obv1_zps23ab7f47.jpg" class="bbCodeImage wysiwygImage" alt="" unselectable="on" /></p><p><img src="http://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o59/ACPitBoss/Jefferson%20Nickels%20Raw/JN1940GEMBU2Rev1_zps3a3710c0.jpg" class="bbCodeImage wysiwygImage" alt="" unselectable="on" /></p><p><br /></p><p>Coin C:</p><p><br /></p><p><img src="http://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o59/ACPitBoss/Jefferson%20Nickels%20Raw/JN1940GEMBU3Obv1_zps9bb56db5.jpg" class="bbCodeImage wysiwygImage" alt="" unselectable="on" /></p><p><img src="http://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o59/ACPitBoss/Jefferson%20Nickels%20Raw/JN1940GEMBU3Rev1_zps91fe9d92.jpg" class="bbCodeImage wysiwygImage" alt="" unselectable="on" />[/QUOTE]</p><p><br /></p>
