rzage What Goes Around Comes Around .

But if they graded them technique ly a lot of coins in MS slabs would really be AUs and the people whose coins didn't get the MS would be screaming foul .

Sure Rusty, it feels great when you are the submitter. OTOH it really stinks when you get your pq+++ (that you paid a premium for) MS 62 home, under your familiar loope and lamp - only to realize "sure looks like a slider to me".

Personally I find Indian 2.5 and $5 incredibly hard to grade with the incuse design I felt coin no 2 was the better as far as contact marks etc that being only my opinion pcgs felt otherwise regardless not only do I find them hard to grade I find them a design I absolutely don't like the only pre 33 gold coins I got no interest in any other coin I can read the wear on the high points and the fields why it was a great idea for a gtg :)

Do you have any understanding or knowledge of the history of the TPGs ? Do you have any idea how many times they have changed their company policies, grading standards, and promises they have made to the numismatic community ?

If you did, like I and many others do, then you'd have no problem not only understanding what I am saying, you'd also agree with it.

Let me ask you a question. You are saying that we should trust and agree with the TPGs, and CAC, because they are thought of as the pros, the ones who are supposed to know what they are doing.

Well, when it comes to money and investing the big shots on Wall Street are supposed to be the pros and know what they are doing. Do you trust them ?

When it comes to running the country, your city, your county, your state, the politicians are supposed to be the pros and know what they are doing. Do you trust them ?

Food for thought about people who are supposed to be the pros and know what they are doing ;)

Do you really have to ask?

Well, I just watched The Wolf of Wall Street and we have Rob Ford as mayor. Whatever losses I may incur, I always seem to get return on investment in the form of entertainment, life lessons, antics, etc.;)

Would it be better to just always trust your opinion without question?

'Course not, last thing in the world I'd ever want. My comments are supposed to make you think, and say wait a minute, maybe I should at least listen and study this some.

Sure, and considering modern times, the possible evolution of grading, etc. vice versa. Asking questions is usually something I do prior to listening to a response and learning from that response. Would you have an image of one of these coins in a true MS-65 to MS-66 grade, matching your standards? This would help me get a grasp on how drastically different a true high MS grade is from a true high AU grade.

You can't compare MS65-66 to MS62-63 - can't be done. But if you want to look at pictures go to Heritage and look at completed auctions, especially older ones. Look at pics of coins graded MS62-63 from older auctions and compare them to these. Look at the high points on the cheek, on the fields down by the date, on the feathers in the headdress, any high points. And yeah, go ahead and look at 65s and 66s - in those same places.

You'll see for yourself what I'm talking about.

You see the MS62-63 as AU (I'm hoping a high AU). I'm not comparing MS65-66 to MS62-63. I wish to compare what you consider to be high AU with what you consider to be high MS. I believe that would provide a drastic enough comparison for my amateur eyes to really explore the difference between the two.

As far as metal softness, various strikes and stamp wear are concerned, that isn't a big consideration in the appearance of wear on these coins?

These photos will suffice for your AU. A link to what you consider high MS would do the trick. Let me become more "learned".;)

Maybe it's just me but I think I would rather have the 62 and new Harley in the garage.

I told ya where to go to see all you could ever want to see. If you want to learn, ya gonna learn more by looking at 1 or 2 pics I give ya links to - or a 100 of them you can look at yourself ?

No, you're missing the point. I would like one example that gets your approval as MS65 or 66. I am capable of searching various images on my own. That will not confirm your opinion of one of them as an MS-65 or 66.

Consider it done. I will look more than once and at more than one source.

The request for one example that passes your approval as a high grade, still stands. Raw or graded.
