Thanks. Surface preservation, color, strike, what is it?

Heck, it's hard enough to evaluate these in-hand. From pictures? Yeah, I'd be flipping a coin.

Coin #2 shows less wear, if given the choice I definitely take door #2

Agree with @Paddy54 #2 shows less wear in the fields which makes it look nicer to me.

Another solid vote for coin 2. The fields on coin 2 appear far better in the photos. However I do believe the devices are better defined on coin 1.

Interestingly both coins graded MS... but we all know MS is not a synonym for UNC.

I like the fields on coin 2, the obverse of coin 1 and the reverse of coin 2. In coin 1 I think the headdress shows less wear, especially on the hair ribbon. Also the Eagles feathers are a bit more detailed to me. The overall color of coin 2 is better than on coin 1 but that's due to the fields. Then on coin 2 there's that darker spot on the Eagles chest. Both coins look MS grade to me but I think the wear on coin 1 is less than on coin 2. The headdress is my deciding factor, more specifically, the hair cord knots are less worn on coin 1.

Don't keep us in suspense too long. :)

#2 seems to have less surface friction. I would say that one graded MS while #1 did not.

As I said, both graded MS. If I understand your post correctly, both should have graded AU...?

I think that’s what PCGS did as well :p

#2 has better eye appeal to me, but it could be due to differences in the lighting. I do like the fields in #2 better.

7 of you said #2 is better
1 of you said #1 is better
1 person thought both coins are equally good

...and PCGS agrees with him: both graded MS62

Follow-up question: Do you think MS62 is the correct grade for those coins?
