Any place with a ounce of brains is not going to sell silver or gold bullion/coins in "bulk" for less than spot. Even if you wanted a million silver half dollars, your not gonna touch them for less than $11 a pop.

Otherwise they would be loosing money.

That would be like selling gold for $1000 an ounce if you "buy 50 ounces or more". They can sell the individual ounces for over $1600 a pop.

Not trying to sound rude, but it just does not work like that.

    Yes.

1964 was the only year, and the last year of the 90% silver coinage. In 1965 the Kennedy was the only coin to be with silver and the content was reduced from .36169(90%) to .1479(40%).

The 40% silver clad Kennedys were from 1965-1970.

40% was the lowest silver content used in coinage. The Eisenhower dollars were .3161 ounces(40%).

For business strikes yes, for collector proof sets no. The only silver coins made now are in the collector sets, which are not for circulation.

I'm getting a "Who's on First" vibe here....

The joke is 64 total amount of clad Kennedys vs. an amount of 1964 Kennedys.
    But anyway.

Yea I got the joke, it just wasnt that funny:eek:

Now IF I order a box of halfs from the bank am I only going to get 40% and 90% in that box and all Kennedys??? I thought that all Kennedys after 64 were 40% up to when they stopped making them ?
Also were there any other halfs made after the 65 Kennedys ?

    rickmp Frequently flatulent.

I agree, but the OP was not trying to be funny. Even a blind squirrel finds the occasional acorn.

So after further looking it seems that the Kennedy halfs were silver in 64, the 65-70 40% anything after 70 were copper/nicle etc right ??
So was the Kennedy the AST half dollar the US minted for circulation ?

So my rolls may contain 40,60 or zero % silver halfs....

Still worth the fun of looking thru them and what i dont want just sell back to the bank:hail:

  21. cvcman: Check out coinshop.com. You can bid on moderns (including 1964 Kennedy halves) and shipping is free. These coins are cut directly from mint or proof sets so will be in decent shape. TC
