I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on where I should store my silver, now that I have it. Should I put it in a vault, keep it at my house, or in a safety deposit box? Anyone that has ideas is much appreciated! Thanks, Chris
I would avoid safety deposit boxes. You never know when a bank could close down and you may not be able to access it. We keep ours in a fire proof safe. I would suggest investing in the same thing. I feel it is the best and safest place to store your precious metals.
It depends on how much you have. If it's anything less than a kilogram, I would say put it in a money belt, so that when you have to leave home in a hurry, you can just strap it on and take it with you.
I agree with Victor, it really depends on how much you have. The last thing you should do is have a big safe sitting out in plain view. Especially not one that can be seen through a window. Try to find an inconspicuous place for it, not the obvious places like a drawer in your bedroom. Sometimes an unexpected place is the most secure, like in an old stuffed animal at the bottom of your kids toy chest.
Uhmm, well, agree with the others' suggestions.. but I think Peter Davis idea, like placing it an unexpected place is cool.. With it, you will never have to worry about it.. But if for instance, you have a lot of silver bars, then placing it in a vault that no one will see is much safer.
I prefer storing silver in a portable fire-proof safe. Choose one that will not be too heavy to carry in case of a fire or emergency. Once it is full, get another one. One for each hand. Larger silver collections require a different strategy. I live in tornado alley. For me, it might be a good idea to store large amounts of silver in a tornado "safe room."
I'm rather uncertain about safes, as they're prime targets, but perhaps having a conspicuous safe as a decoy is good, while keeping your actual stash in a place less obvious.
You can first arrange to take physical possession or you can choose to have your silver bullion stored at a Third-Party Insured Vault.
