Hmmm, I was once an expert witness in a federal investigation following a tragic Amtrak accident. I wonder if that counts? Guy
Okay, I admit there are different qualifications each person has of expert. I would assume that even an expert may defer to another expert, and so on.
I don't know. Expert? You guys want an expert? Here's an expert....
By that standard none of us here is an expert. An expert would be an active worker for a Mint or Printer. We only reverse engineer. We figure things out after the fact. We are "coin hackers." Like computer hackers we can be clever, but we do not originate the systems we study. I am the first (and only) to assert that Blanch(e) Sully is the model for the Seated Liberty coins. But I did not paint the portraits or cut the dies. I grant the validity of the definition. As no one here is an expert, perhaps the thread should be titled, "Where Have all the People who Study the Works of others Gone?"
Wow, what a thread! I thought that I was reading a BNB novel again. I needed a bowl of popcorn and a few beers to wade through this one. I must say that I consider many of you experts. I'm always amazed at the information that you share with us grasshoppers. I bow to you.
Experts get paid. That being said, I patiently await my check for mastery of the remote control. BTW.... The +1 is reference to forums that have Reputation Points. You are allowed to issue points to people who have a good/funny/relative post. The +1 is a sign of approval, which has already been loosely mentioned.
You should sign up early if you want to get in Skip's counterfeit detection course. I took the course this past summer (my second time to take that course - the first one was taught by JP Martin and Bob Campbell). Skip really knows his stuff and you can learn a lot from him.
