Good value for what seems to be a rare coin!

Do you know how to obtain a copy of the Dinsdale book, or access it online? A Google search produced no results for me.

Here are a few - nothing too special, but the first two illustrate how the style could vary within the same type.

    Dear Curtis

I saw you question on-line, so I joined the Forum in order to reply. I have been cataloguing the coinage of the Antonine emperors for a few years now, and I am currently working through the coins of Aurelius and Lucius. The catalogue, as far as it has gone, is only available on-line, as downloadable pdfs. I have tried to register the sight with google etc, but appear to lack the necessary tech skills. I include the link here: http://romanpaulus.x10host.com/Main/Menu.html
A couple of members of this forum have been kind enough to send me pictures of unusual or rare coins from their collections, and I have been able to update my catalogue to reflect their specimens. I am always open to corrections, additions, or new information. I know that you have very kindly responded to a few of my requests for info on the Forvm Ancient Coins Discussion Board. You can always contact me directly via the homepage on my website.

    Kind regards

    Paul

I'll echo the echo - that looks to be a very good, and important, resource. Nice job, Paulus.

A lovely coin, and fairly scarce. The CONSECRATIO/Pyre sestertii appear to come from a very tightly grouped set of dies, probably indicating that they were issued for only a short spell of time, i.e. at the time of the funeral. Your coin appears to come from the same die-pair as the following example:

Classical Numismatic Group, Inc. (Mail Bid Sale 67), 22.9.2004, lot 1556.

    Good luck with the collecting.
