Ive come to learn to look for wheelmarks on every error coin I plan to submit to NGC.
These, sometimes tiny marks, will prevent an error from getting an ms grade.
Ngc will details grade a coin for a wheelmark.
These seem to be very common on broadstruck errors.
Are wheelmarks that damaging to a coin that it deserves a details grade?
Will the other tpg's details grade coins for wheelmarks?
Some of the coins I got back with the wheelmark details should be 65's or better. Even with the wheelmark.
This prevents me from buying ungraded broadstruck errors online. A wheelmark can be impossible to see in pictures.
Perhaps thats why you can buy raw broadstruck errors on ebay for about 10 bucks?
An ms67 coin with a tiny wheelmark should be at least a 64,65. Not unc details.
