I am anxious to see the 1914-D and the 1931-S coins you get next. I used to have a 1914-D a long time ago but traded/sold it in bad times.
I'll keep the thread going as I progress. I'm very skeptical about buying on eBay so most of my coins will come from a shop which will try to overcharge me
I usually take me folder with me so when I open it they suddenly get serious and want to pay attention to what I'm looking for
I hate to say it but I think it may be fake. The bump on the left wheat stalk by the U in UNITED is found on a lot of counterfeits.
Never noticed that. I'll take it in and get looked at. Either way I'll still keep it since its been in the family. I appreciate all the comments and support
The SVDB looks like it was encased, from the rim condition. Still, you want to be careful on these keys, as they do fake these. On your '14-D and '31-S, let us give them a going over before you buy them. We don't want you to get burned.
The 14D will be the most expensive depending on the grade. I would go for the a better grade if it helps match the other cents. Nice collection. Wheat cents are my favorite coin.
I figure I'll save up for the 14 and 31 so I get the best grade possible. Why put a low grade is my logic
One more thing, these keys and semi-keys are chancy, uncertified. That's why you want to show them to us before you buy and we'll give you the best we can off the pictures. Or, go after certified ones, as they're at least attributed genuine.
