Favorite Hi All, Great thread! I am somewhat surprised that Peace Dollars haven't been mentioned. I personally think they get a bad rap. I love the design and Lady Liberty looks somewhat modern and quite beautiful to me. Also, I think I am in love with what must have been a state of mind long gone. The Great War was over and the world was rejoicing in the excess of the 20's. What it would have been like to see that time of innocent jubilation!! http://www.coinfacts.com/silver_dollars/peace_dollars/peace_dollars.html Anyway, these are relatively cheap to do the set (1928 is my next big one) and I like how they sucked me in on some gutteral level. To each his own its true. Anyway...been awhile since I've taken the time to read anything here. Happy New Year to all!!
thanks Mydrivec i thought, i would just try out a post any one can reply too. i'm personally surprised that the morgan dollars hasn’t been mentioned more. i think, i read some where that 9 out of 10 coin collectors have one of these in there collection. i personally don't own one yet but, i'm working on getting one soon. any suggestion on the one to buy.
Anywhere...the Morgan dollar is the most seen coin and I would almost say the most collected coin at any show...dealers always have them...and lots of them... Speedy
Very nice looking Buffalo Speedy, but I kind of think the bidder got a little carrried away with the bidding. The coin is real nice, but not that nice. Oh and thanks for the tip on vtcoins, I'll take a look and see what they have.:high5:
Draped bust large cent. The obverse is simple and classic, the reverse appealing in it's clean simplicity as well. Plus it's copper.
Morgan dollars, Peace dollars, Indian Head nickels, and the Mercury dime. There might be a hint of nostalgia there.
I hate the french. My Favorite is the Susan B Anthony, without a doubt. My favorite to collect is Morgans. Ruben
No doubt. The combination of it being the Nickle of the depression (subway ride anyone) and a strickly American theme makes it a wonderful coin. My 4th favorite after Susan B's, Morgans, and the Colonial USA coin. Ruben
I'll my add my favorites to this thread: Dollars - Trade Dollar, with the Peace Dollar a close 2nd due to it's beauty. Half Dollars - Franklin's... it was Liberty Walking until all of those Bullion and Commemorative copies came out... just got sick of it. Kinda like all that hype that goes to the Morgan's... just to common of a favorite for me. Quarters - Standing Liberty! Dimes - Mercury Nickels - Buffalo One Cent Pieces - Indian Head, with the Flying Eagle a close second. AND "BEST IN SHOW" GOES TO THE STANDING LIBERTY QUARTER. (I know all the guys would have her at least in the top three)? right?
