    Hi everyone,
I have (2) of these. What is each worth? What exactly are they. I have already looked at APMEX.com but that doesn't really tell me anything. Any thoughts? IMG_3995.JPG IMG_3996.JPG

Should at least be worth the silver value...
Made by Pobjoy mint for the British Virgin Islands commemorating death of Christopher Columbus 5kg Silver at .999 fineness, mintage not known.
They also made a gold commemorative, not sure if they did copper.

In my opinion I would imagine that it would be worth moee than its silver with teh awesome presentation and interesting inclusion of a compass (i do not know much about this area of the modern coin market though)

Wow, I did not realize that was a 5 kilo coin. Here I was thinking it was like a crown size coin or something.

That type of porthole did not exist till about 400 years after Colombus.

I can't see it being worth any more than the melt value.

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

Most of these giant coins are worth roughly their melt value. They are more of a publicity stunt than a something that people collect.

5 Kilos of silver is worth about $2400 at today's prices. You might get a bit more than that when you sell, for the novelty.

Just out of curiosity, can you post a photo of a dollar coin beside it for comparison?
