What's the oldest coin you've found at the time? (in a roll, sidewalk, etc?)

What is the oldest coin you have ever found? What year did you find it? What year was the coin?

In other words, how much older was the coin than the time you found it?

For me, in 2019 I have found coins as old as the 1940s, so I have found coins 70+ years old in change. How about you?

So if you're an old fogey and found something dated in the 1800s when you were a kid in the 1960s that means you found a coin 70+ years old at the time.

Just last Memorial Day. I received a V-nickel in an oceanside watering hole. I was worn slick but I believe it is 1904 which would make it a 114 year old find.

1929 Buffalo Nickel in change- 2015

1920 S Lincoln Wheat Cent from a self checkout change dispenser-2019

Now, these aren't even 100 years old yet, but, I started looking at my change more closely and collecting coins around 6 years ago.

Edit: Thanks for the 300th like, Randy!

Just yesterday actually I was CRH and found a 1918 wheatie that required a loupe to read the date. 101 years old and worth the same as it was then.

Someone spent 5 V nickels in the library copy machine where i work. That was cool. Other than that I've found quite a few Indian head cents.

Found my oldest US coin in circulation yesterday - an 1898 V nickel.

Penny - a road-rashed 1900 Indian head, received in change about 10 years ago.

Dime - 1917 Mercury that my now-wife found in a Coinstar. That I found myself would be a 1947 Roosevelt received in change at a taqueria.

Quarter - 1927-D that a co-worker received in change. Personally it would be a 1942 in a Coinstar.

Half - 1934-D Walker from a bank teller score

    Dollar - 1971 Ike

Last Dec (2018) I got an EXF 1951 Franklin at the bank (pictured with two 40% silvers found at the same time). My earliest circ find was a very early date Lincoln many years ago: possibly a 1909 or 1910. Also many years ago I got 3 Peace dollars at another bank, possibly a 1922, 24 and my only US dollar owned from the 30's: a VF 1934.

Dime – 1924 Mercury Dime in a parking lot.

Nickel – A VF 1916 Buffalo Nickel found it while working at the 2017 Scout Jamboree. A coworker also found a VG 1893 Liberty Head Nickel that week.

Quarter – A dateless Standing Liberty Quarter.

Half - A 1945 Walking Liberty Half from a bank teller.

I got a beat up 1909 cent back in change from a Bashas' grocery store about 20 years ago. (1999/2000) The store is/was in a retirement community so maybe their old eyes could not see the date.

I got an 1858 FE cent in change at the school cafeteria, around 1970. 112 years old, pretty good I'd say.
