Here we go again! I think you will get a variety of answers both pro and con on the grading on the two companies. Personally and in my own opinion the copper I like to collect I think PCGS does a better job overall, but I also own very nice NGC coins for the series. Even some ANACS coins.
I can't say what coin grading company is the best. But I do have some slabbed coins and I have read plenty of articles about the coin grading companies. Here's an article that may help you. http://www.fleur-de-coin.com/articles/gradingcompanies.asp Lou
It always comes down to PCGS versus NGC. NGC usually wins out on CT, but I would says PCGS is most accurate/conservative in grading. TC
Neither, individual specialist do a hell of alot better grading in their fields than any or all of the grading co's...
Personally, I like NGC the best. Though most think that PCGS is more accurate, but it's always safer to under grade it than it is to over grade. For example, NGC will grade a Mercury dime MS-68 while PCGS will grade it 67.
Tuff question since everybody has different standards but most of the time you will find alike coins Selling for more in a PCGS holder vs NGC
Exactly! All grading companies are inaccurate and inconsistent. The big two, PCGS and NGC both have their high points and low points. One is tougher on one series than the other and one might be more lenient on color on one series than another. Whatever the case may be, grading will always be subjective, there will always be different opinions, it is an art not a science. PCGS and NGC will never and have never escaped that.
For Canadian coins ICCS and I find Canadian dealers prefer to buy and sell coins graded by this company.
