A bullion coin one says copy and the other Says copy #. Why and what is fake or real? Is this real IMG_1988.jpg IMG_1987.jpg

I doubt if it's even bullion!

Not a bullion coin. Both are copies. That’s all that matters. They are novelists.

Only the manufacturer would know why they stamped them as they did.

Considering that only 445,500 specimens of this Saint-Gaudens double eagle were minted in 1933, none were ever officially circulated, and all but two were ordered to be melted down, it's a pretty safe bet yours is a junk copy to use as a hole filler

Just wondering how anyone could see the word COPY stamped into a token and think that it is real.

Semantics perhaps? Real as in is it a legit COPY, or a poorly made chinese piece made to deceive? I dunno....I wouldn't say it's "real" unless it's an original, which of course would never have any version of copy stamped into it.

Sales pitch. The original intent was to number the available copies, and convince the gullible and unknowing (sort of like the modern U.S. Mint) of an instant rarity that wasn't.

So what's this copied coin made from? Looks like gold-color plated pot metal.
