I had some coins for sale on eBay, including this Chinese 20 cash coin. I don't know much about these and they're never going to be a major area of my collection. Anyway, this one sold for $16, whereas I was expecting maybe $2. So I'm curious for anyone who knows about these what's special about this one? china2.jpg

This is 10 cash. 20 cash would be worth way more.

As of why it was sold that high, I have no idea. There are many different varieties out there.

Trying to tie down the province. Is it Szechuan (Sichuan)?

Hmm, I had it listed as 20 cash, but presumably the person who would pay that much for it would know what it is. I was just going on size. I thought it was the size of a 20 cash.

This is an example of the Sichuan 10 cash coin

An example of 20 cash from this era would look like this (from a different area)

Note that the bottom inscription is different. 10 cash coin is around 7 grams and 20 cash would be roughly 11 grams.

Yeah, I see the numbers for 10 and 20 now that you mention it. I just didn't think to look for that.
