Hello members. So here's a 1964 D penny. The Obverse rim iliminates like half of "in God we trust". I saw a penny that resembles this one and it was struck on a dime planchet. I don't think that's the case for this 64 penny but want y'all's expert advice on what y'all thought the error is and maybe a value. As always thanks.talkvto you guys tomorrow.
Welcome to Coin Talk. IMO your coin looks like it was struck by a very worn die and the obverse die was slightly misaligned. Add the circulation wear. No added value, worth 1 cent.
+1 for very worn obverse die. The edge of the coins field is rolled up and does not have a defined rim line like the reverse.
A 1964 dime Planchet would be made of silver.. That is not silver. But you said and realized it wasn't the case.
Middle-aged spread hits people AND dies. On a die, it makes all of the outer details creep closer to the edge.
@Gayland Lee ...+1 is shorthand, so to speak, that “I agree, add another opinion”. In this case, @alurid was agreeing that the coins’ condition was from a very worn die. In post #9, I exaggerated and put +5...indicating I was the 5th person to agree...Spark
I wished one of you experts were setting here with me and we could go through all my pennies and you could help me access what I got so I can get a price on them and on website for sale cause I need the money in a very bad way. Lol....
Gayland, I hope you take this the right way as I do understand what you are saying, but the time it would take anyone to go through random coins to find something above face value is usually many many hours. Almost any method of making money would be less time for what you need. There are a few found worth more, but it is unlikely. If one does it for fun and not value, the time lost is expected, and laughed about to others. If you need it for survival quickly, it has odds similar to lotto. Many think we are just trying to keep the competition down, but that is not so for most. Best of luck , Jim
Lol...yes sir. I completely understand what your saying and appreciate your telling me. I really on the cool have come to appreciate the penny too. So I don't just do this for the money. In fact I haven't made not one cent so far and may never ever find even one big money coin but I thought I did. It was missing the dang "D". A lousy "D". I do think/have a feeling it's my turn to hit the lottery as well. Oh and the amount of time I spend searching pennies everyday pisses my girlfriend off too so I try to spend more the next day. I don't like her. Lol.... Thx Jim.
