Does it matter what brand of Silver you purchase. I was reading on the internet that as long as they are equal in purity/weight etc.....so why are people paying premium for the brand...(Pamp/Perth/Engelhard)...thoughts?

Some people collect bullion and prefer brands. Others know and trust a brand's purity. Some just follow the herd.

You will get a higher premium on PAMP Fortuna bars than on the average refinery bars. You will get a higher premium on American Silver Eagles (ASE's) than on generic bullion rounds.

Some brands are known to give you a bit extra weight - usually not much to make a difference. I've never looked into this angle.

Personally I'll pay a very small premium ( a dollar or three ) for a PAMP or PERTH bar over some of the others, but usually I stick to paying spot no matter what.

I got these cheaper than most bars last year - but only bought because of price.

Because the names of some firms are associated with honesty and integrity.

The name on the bar counts precisely to the extent the NEXT buyer will care what it is. Not a penny more or less. If you are buying ANY asset to sell it at a profit, then a trusted brand will probably matter some. If you expect to someday use said silver to create little beads of silver for barter because you're expecting economic Armageddon, then probably branding is irrelevant.
