I hope to get two or three coins at Triton, and I'm aware of another three from my wantlist coming up later in the year. However, I rarely start a year with a goal in mind: my approach is very opportunistic and "carpe diem".
man, i just don't know. maybe try for a byzantine gold? alexander lifetime tet? parthian tet some republican bronze? some of the "big 12" i don't have...several. something like that. i will probably end up being total different stuff i get next year!
There are indeed some great coins posted here. Gives me something to shoot for a couple of years down the road. At the moment my wish list is more pedestrian as I'm starting out and coins that some here have a dozen of and may think are borring, are interesting to me because I don't yet have any. Got to learn to walk before I can run. I hope to grow my collection from 8 to about 25-30 by next year's end, and hopefully by the end of 2017 I'll have enough of a collection that I can start hunting more exclusive types now that I have several dozen to enjoy as a foundation to my collection.
No wish list here. I've never had one in 35 years of ancient coins collecting Appart from 2 or 3 "dream coins" that I happened to acquire "in fine", I've always followed my nose. I feel an open mind the best way to find opportunities, i.e. coins I had never thought of as possible acquisitions, because of their price, preservation, rarity, and so on : I see it, I like it, I buy it. Some kind of "Veni, Vidi, Vici" impulse attitude, especially at coin fairs, while browsing on the internet, either dealers websites or auction catalogues, I will take the time of doing some research. So, let's see what happens in 2016 Q
=> that's always been my sweet strategy too, Q ... => ummm, but always keep your head-up when following your snout, my friend ... ... awwww
