Thanks for posting those, @Marsyas Mike. They're all very nice examples and it's interesting to see what $75 bought you 20-30 years ago. I'd say you did more than okay! For the next thread, we'll be heading straight to the Bargain Bin section with coins $20 and under. Look out for that thread this Thursday... I know I'll be looking forward to your posts there.
Some were never inventory, others yes, at one time. But alas, I am sorry all, I mis-read the rules of the thread. I'll see what I have within the price range stated.

This is the most I've ever spent on a single coin (I'm still very new). Postumus South Petherton Hoard $66.50 Herod Agrippa I $66
Now I have had a chance to photograph it properly, I am pretty happy with this Constatine camp gate minted London AD 324-325, RIC VII 294, 50 pounds = US 67.57, ex Baldwins.
Funny, I just posted this coin in another thread. Including shipping, this Roman Denarius from 122 BC was $75 US almost exactly. Personally I think it was an amazing price for what it is. This Greek Hemidrachm (~480-400 BC) was just shy of the same price, at $65 US.
Two very nice coins AussieCollector, and welcome to CT. It's great to have another Aussie onboard, help even things up a bit, I think with you that makes four in the ancient forum, oh well maybe we need a few more
Thanks mate! And glad to see there are at least some other Aussies here. We will need to swap stories on where to source decent priced coins without crazy postage money
No worries, there is quite a few overseas dealers just as cheap as our registered mail costs, in some cases cheaper.
$80 got me half a drachm of Emporion in 2009. Ever since spending a day wandering around the ruins in 2007, I'd wanted a coin from there. I first got a modern Spanish commemorative €10 silver coin, which reproduces the ancient drachm - I got it in Madrid airport, where the Spanish mint had a shop (I think it's not there any more). Then I mentioned Emporion to a Spanish collector/dealer and he had this on his shelf within reach - I've asked him to look for the other half, but no joy as of yet: This was €76 last year - I have a better one of the type, but got this as it has an interesting provenance - from the Haeberlin collection, auctioned in 1933. Crawford 382/1b denarius: ATB, Aidan.
