My favorite coin collecting activity by far is to search through "junk bins" at a coin shop or show, but especially a shop. Just the fact that you never know what you're going to find is such a thrill. No matter how many coins are in the box, I always look at every one, even if it takes several hours. I only go to my favorite shop every few months to give them time to replenish their stock, and I made my most recent trip on Friday. I got 487 coins for 15 cents each, and another 17 from the 50 cent bin. Obviously I can't take individual pictures, but here's an idea of what I got.
The larger bag above and the coins pictured there are ones that I already have in my collection, so I plan to resell these. The smaller bag are either ones I didn't have yet, ones that are upgrades to my collection, or ones I need to check out more. I haven't checked for key dates or anything, but I know there's a few Denmark coins here with high book values.
Nice buy. Pretty sure you can recover your initial investment with 10-ish coins from that group. Nothing better than upgrades
that looks like a very fun day. it's good see/hear about someone having fun collecting coins. world coins variety rule.
