What would you do in this situation? (1877 IHC possibility)

On ebay who knows what would happen. I personally would not buy it, but for $25 to $50 bucks I might take it to stick in a kinds album. Just my own opinion. I don't ever recall seeing an 1877 that cheap.

I got a 1877 IHC in AG3 condition in a batch of IHC's. I needed to know if it was authentic or not. Because it also had a scratch I sent it in to ANACS for authentication. At that time NGC and PCGS would have body bagged it. It was graded AG3 Details, Scratched.

I'm glad I did it. I had been told it was worth about $500. Your coin is very messed up but someone will buy it as a real coin album filler coin.

Hey, so I might end up trading this coin to someone for some silver halves. I'm wondering what you, as dealers, would sell a coin like this for? I'm throwing it out to the CT community so I can offer someone a fair price. I mean, I could do the math (a G-4 is worth X, so a Poor-1 is worth somewhere around 1/4 of that) but I figure I'd ask all of you!

    Thanks!

As a buyer on eBay $100 probably BIN, auction might go much higher or less if people are scared off

I'd say (with my limited knowledge so far) send it to be conserved and then have it sent to NGC. They may be able to take off just enough of the junk to make it look nicer first.
