I may do that. I have several fossils and stuff that I would like to move out... We'll see. I will need to look around the area. I appreciate the suggestions! I will sort them by date and see what turns up. Maybe I can get my wife to help me...
Yeah, I was at my LCS looking though some foreign coins they had purchased and hadn't sorted through yet, and there was a group that was full of better dates. The aforementioned British pennies (with several of each date), 1926 Canada 1 cent, 1956 British farthings, and 1942 Mexico 5 centavos (the rare one) to name a few. Fortunately I know what I'm doing so I did really well on those, and they don't really care because they didn't pay a premium for them either.
According to various sources, a falling penny reaches terminal velocity in only 50 feet at around 25 mph. It has such low mass that it might sting a little but that's about it. You could have a friend drop them on you from a fourth floor balcony and report the results here. Of course, a single coin would flutter on the way down too. A roll of cents, 50x the mass, I'm guessing might kill you. Assuming the coefficient of drag and cross-sectional area remained the same (big assumptions) terminal velocity would be 170 mph.
