What the dealer did was despicable and I am happy you found a measure of revenge. However, what are you doing going shopping with no money in your pocket? It astounds me the people walk around with no cash at all.
I didn't notice it was an 8 year old thread, I blame dctrjr80. Regardless, I still don't understand why people walk around with absolutely no money.
Your just living in the past. I know many people that carry no cash anymore. My Son for one. He does have some small change in his car but other than that, nothing in the way of cash. I go to breakfast occationally with a group of people and several of them carry no cash at all. One owns a plumbing company too. My Son loves to show me all the time how he uses a credit or debit card for gas, food, clothing, restaurants and anything else. Also, like hw says, he gets money back from some of them anyway. With a Cabellas Visa for intance he gets 1% of anything he spends for money at thier store. A neighbor of mine uses a similar one and gets free items there all the time. Myself, I'm old fashioned and find I can get things so much cheaper with cash. Eventually, there will be no cash anyway.
No No No No. To answer OP from 8 years ago~like if this ever happens again~ "That's the wrong coin. I was going to purchase the $20 one. Where did you put it?" (Using Doug's rounding system)
My personal reason for carrying cash is directly related to my lifestyle. You can't buy into a poker game with a credit card, at least not yet. However, I have always found that people are more responsible with their money when they are spending cash instead of using a credit/debit card no matter how much of a rebate they get. You are right though. I remember going to a bar and seeing cash on the bar infront of every patron. Nowadays you see a whole bunch of glasses with credit cards in them.
Because Because~ When one get's mugged you can just hand over your whole wallet. Just don't ask me to take off my shoes, though.
Now I am really confused. If you hand an empty wallet to a mugger, he is likely to beat the money out of you. I know many people who carry cash and call it "mugger money".
Years ago Years ago~actually 1995, was the last time, while moving from KY to WI, about midnight on Christmas Eve, I had to stop and get some diesel fuel for my rental truck. Like a fool running out of fuel I stopped at a bad place (Rockville) to ask directions to a place that had diesel. The fellow proclaimed I would not need any after he relieved me of my wallet, so I just handed it over, begging to at least leave me my drivers license so I could leave. As he was using both hands to check my wallet and discover a single sawbuck inside (which seemed to really distract & tick him off) I dropped and disarmed him. ThanX to an old Chief Petty Officer's teachings, I hardly ever have much cash in my wallet. But you are right. I never go anywhere without something someplace. Damn airports are a hassle now though.
I agree. Kind of reminds me of a "contest" I entered on CoinTalk. It was one of those "PM me first and they're yours" deals and I was first. The PM back says "They're yours, just send me your info." I do. PM back says "oops, someone else PM'd me with their info before you responded with yours so 'it's only fair' that they should get them." The part that stinks the most is that I made it clear that I only wanted one of the coins because it had an animal on it and my son (10) loves animals... Wait, that's not anything at all like the dealer story!
That's the pot calling the kettle black!!! This coming from the guy responding to an 8 year old post at 1:30am in the morning? Get a sense of humor!
I respond to posts at 1:30AM because that is what time I got home from a night out on the town. I don't sit around scheming how to play stupid practical jokes on people I don't even know on an internet chat room. So you got a guy who had a few drinks to fall for your stupid little game. Now go buy some new face paint and get a life!
My apologies. I publicly apologize to you for misleading you into replying to an 8 year old thread and for telling you to get a sense of humor and implying that you didn't have a life. Further more I apologize for anything else that may have offended you with out my knowledge.
