What would happen to cent and five-cent coin values if the government decided to discontinue them?

I bought it on EBay and have been happy with it, but it was so long ago that auction info is long gone. The box says "Coin Analyzer/Comparitor + Power Supply", distributed by YourNeed4Less, www.yn4less.com. I can feed a roll of pennies through in a little more than a minute. I have also tested it on it on dimes and on 1968 Canadian quarters. Basically it works on any coins of size a quarter or small and will match the metal contents of a sample coin.
