I never really looked at too much of my change until 2 years ago, but I found a 1914 wheat that was almost pitch black.....woo-hoo! :rollling:

I do look at all of my change and once in a while I will get some rolls to look through......not bad considering I don`t collect any numismatics, with the exception of ASEs.

1916-D Wheatie. Oldest wheatie out of roughly 124,000 total pennies searched. And some guy got a 1910 in his change from fast food?

    lol.

In the US, 1926 cent in 1998; also several 1940's nickels. (Weirdly, lots of 1964 nickels I find, but not so many of surrounding dates).

In the UK, you couldn't really go back further than 1947 (found lots of those), as the last 50% silver year was 1946, and the coppers had been demonitized in 1971. However, I did find two 50% 1/- coins in change in the early 1990's, both 1942E.

I found teens cents is about it. That was some time ago as well. In the late 70's you would find all Jefferson nickels and a few scrubby buffalos in circulation as well. I was the weird kid picking out all of the "green" nickels from circulation.

Regarding someone finding a Roman, I have been known to throw late Roman coins into historical sites from time to time, just to see what the reaction would be. So if you here in the future that Rome colonized site in Virginia or South Carolina, or even the midwest, remember that. :)

Nice! I think the obverse of yours looks better than the one I found. Both of our coins' reverse sides are a little rough.

Probably a teens wheat for me, nothing stands out in my mind. My mom however got a 1857 flying eagle cent in change from Mcdonalds, still have that one.

1947 Washington in change from the movies, and 1947 wheatie I found on the floor at school. Never found an IHC or Liberty nickel, but hope to soon.

Not me the collector - but my brother got a 1892 IHC in change. Needless to say I confiscated it. :) I did get my first proof in my change - a 1981-S quarter. Got it in change while visiting York. Not sure when or where cause I just stick all change aside until I get home - then search it.

  16. 1937 Nickel, it was pretty beat up and holed.

My best ever find was during the Christmas Season in Fallon Nevada 1997, I was Working for JC Penney at the time. I was putting the morning cash into the tills before the store opened. I opened a roll of Cents.... all shiny red 1936 Wheaties!! I think my eyes fell out of my head!! I have been in retail all my adult life, I have never had any thing like that happen to me before or since... Dammit! :)
