WELCOME TO THE FORUMMMMMMM. My suggestion is to collect bottle tops, gum wrappers, rocks, arrow heads, etc due to there are already to many coin collectors around.:rolleyes: Just kidding. But there really are a lot of coin collectors nowadays. However, there are a real lot of coins also. As to your question. The first thing to really do is acquire a book or books on coins so you know what is available. If you decide to put your coins in Albums, you will see most have places for P, D and S mints. Of course the older ones have places for O and CC also. This sort of forces you to collect coins from all mints to make a completed Album. Some even have places for error coins such as the Lincoln Cent ones with places for the 55 Double Die, 72 Double Die, 22 Plain, etc. With such silly items it really makes it difficult to fill an Album. Although I suspect most collectors collect coins from all Mints, the present S Minted coins are proofs and must always be purchased, not found in change. Also, making collecting difficult. The main thing you would normally always hear when asking that is to just collect what you like, want, have access to, etc. Attempting to follow what someone else says to collect is there preferences and not yours usually. Asking what to do for a hobby is like asking who should I marry, what car should I buy, how much should I spend on a date, which is the easiest store to rob, etc.
