I haven't seen this before. It is raised metal but it also has the coat and bust imprinted. I'll investigate more tomorrow
At first glance I thought glue, it was dirty too. I soaked it in water, then acetone. nothing melted. It's 3 metal blobs. One small one to the SE of trust, the one on his hair, and the big one from the neck to the bottom of the bust. obviously they are a different mix than the original coin metal. It could be a really big die chip, or break. It has the collar of the coat and the bust printed on it, as well as the hair. That means it's not PMD. I am leaning towards struck through some metal that bonded to the coin. more green rot :-(
I d a lot of electronics work. Plain solder is tin/lead. It is very soft, silver colored, and would melt into the copper and not appear pressed on. Whatever it is was struck by the die as you can see the coat and collar imprinted, as well as the hair.
maybe it's struck through GOLD! a wedding ring? The other metal isn't tarnishing. The copper is deteriorating a little where the metals meet. I have to find the scale and weigh it....
No responses.. I think the others have lost interest in your Cent. I think it's neat. But I have no answer for you.
I sent one similar to this to Mike Diamond for attribution once. It came back as 'acid etched.' I'll try to find the thread I made on it...
