I bought a 1942 D over Horz D Jefferson Nickel on ebay a few weeks ago graded by ANACS MS-60 details cleaned (Blue Label). When I received the I noticed a spot of something in the field in front of Mr. Jeffersons nose. It looks like a peice of tissue or some other foreign matter and what appears to be PVC underneath. I debated sending it back for a refund but I didn't pay a whole lot for it and it is most likely the best example of the variety I'll be able to afford or I should say want to afford. I debated breaking it out of the holder to remove the spot but decided to wait till the Baltimore/Washington Coin Convention to ask ANACS about it. Well, ANACS did not have any graders at the show so the customer service manager said she would take the coin back with her and find out what they would do and give me a call. That was on Friday 7/14, I haven't heard back but was wondering what you all think they will or should do? My feeling is they should have removed the spot before slabbing it or not slabbed it in the first place with active PVC!
