I came across this 1954 proof quarter and noticed that something was different, anyone know what kind of error this would be? Thanks 1954OBV-2.JPG

Different as in hazy and spotted? Rounded rim? Wide looking letters? Give us a clue as to what you see.

Struck thru lines off the leafs?

Good eye TJ! If that is on the coin, that would be unusual on a proof.

On the R in quarter there are lines and between D and O and L in dollar there are lines. And check out the A and R in dollar.

That looks like "die polish." This may start a big fight as some don't like the NORMAL & VIRTUALLY UNIVERSAL use/and definition (BY US MINT EMPLOYEES) of raised lines on a coin caused by incuse scratches on a die.

So, Look closely inside the "R." If the inside is flat and mirror-like as the rest of the field and there are a few "raised lines" above the flat area, that's what you are seeing. DIE POLISH FOR SURE as I just blew up your photo.;)
